In his more than fifteen years of experience, Mauricio has had a successful professional career, collaborating within the main consulting firms in Mexico and as part of the public sector within the Tax Administration Service (SAT).
He graduated with a Master's Degree in Administrative and Tax Law from the National Bar Association, SC and a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), with a Diploma in Tax Contributions from the same Institution.
Between 2010 and 2011, he participated in the renowned "Fiscal Knowledge Marathons", a series of academic competitions in which he was a member of the UNAM representative teams, and managed to obtain second place at the metropolitan area level and third place at the national level.
As part of the Tax Administration Service (SAT), he served as Deputy Administrator in the General Hydrocarbons Administration from 2015 to 2019, and within the private sector he has served as senior tax officer at the firms Ortiz, Sosa, Ysusi y Cía., SC and KPMG Cárdenas Dosal, SC (the latter absorbed the former in 2014), collaborating from 2013 to 2015; as a tax consultant in the financial sector at Deloitte - Galaz, Yamazaki, Ruiz Urquiza, SC, from 2011 to 2013, and as an external auditor at the firm BDO Castillo Miranda y Compañía, SC in 2010.
Throughout his professional career, he has acquired extensive knowledge and experience in corporate tax consulting, mergers and acquisitions, audits and actions of tax authorities, accounting and tax compliance. He also has experience in specialized sectors, such as hydrocarbons and the financial system.
Currently, he works as a corporate tax partner at VMEO Advisory, SC, in the tax consulting, tax compliance and accounting practice.
